Which regex flavor is supported?

JavaScript regular expressions. Turn on the regex option, then patterns like \d+, [a-z]+ or (foo|bar) work.

Can I use capture groups in the replacement?

Yes. With regex mode on you can use $1, $2 and so on in the replacement field to re-use matched groups.
